We love Malaga and have been visiting for over thirty years. However for many reasons; we have never tried the famous sardines cooked over charcoal on a cane or metal spit (Espeto).
We took a stroll along the Malagueta beach thinking that we might find some even though it is late in the season. We were in luck. At the first chiringuito we spotted that the fire was hot and the distinctive aroma of barbecued fish was in the air. The sardines were quite small which is preferred. We ate them with our fingers, accompanied by a ración of fried calamari and a cold Victoria beer. Perfect!
