These are our first artichokes of the season. Mid-May rather than late January as in Conil. We had a monster frost in May which killed the runner beans and peas and also damaged these artichokes. We are trying to reboot the allotment to make it easier to maintain and we had anticipated removing the artichokes. However we are behind schedule so we were able to harvest this small crop before we dig up the plants. Artichokes are beautiful to look at so I have been experimenting with some food styling rather than close-ups and overhead shots. I need to invest in some “props”
