Also known as Stone bass or meagre it looks like a giant angry sea bass. Not a relative but a great alternative especially if you want thick “steaks”
I wanted to buy some “lomo” so I could crisp up the skin but these beautiful “rodajas” were already prepared so I bought them from Miguel Aragón, who runs pescadería Aragón, in the Mercado de Abastos. I pan-fried them and served them with papas a la pobre
