La Fromagerie in Moxon Street in Marylebone, London is on my way home from work. I always peak into the “Cheese Room” as I pass and often I am tempted inside.

In the forward to her book “Cheese” Patricia Michelson describes her “Cheese Room” – a walk-in humidified room where cheeses can be seen and tasted at a temperature that enhances their ripening and keeping qualities. She then goes on to say that it has often been described as A “library of cheese” where you can walk around reading the labels, chatting with the “librarians” and tasting some of the cheeses on display. I find the experience very exciting; the display is more like a modern museum where you are encouraged to interact. The cheese room is unique and the rest of the shop is beautiful – like something from another age and place.

Patricia Michelson started her London-based cheese shop La Fromagerie, in 1991. There are now three locations.
