The Oxford Cheese Company

The Oxford Cheese Company opened in Oxford’s Covered Market in 1983. The cheese shop was the only one in Oxford. In 1995, the owner, Baron Robert Pouget began production of Oxford Blue in Derbyshire.

The emphasis is on artisan cheeses especially from the Alpine region and Ewes milk and Goats milk from the French regions. The merchandising is typically French – a cluttered cornucopia organised by type of cheese.

Although the cheese shop is an important part of the business, the production and sale of Oxford Blue, Oxford Isis, College White and Oxford Sauce is now the main preoccupation.
