I love a cheese shop.
The Jericho Cheese Company in Little Clarendon Street, Oxford specialises in English Territorials and Artisan British and Irish cheeses.
Adam Verlander opened the shop in October 2016., having spent the previous six years at Neal’s Yard Dairy cheese shop in London.
He stocks his favourite British and Irish cheeses from Neal’s Yard – plus one Parmigiano-Reggiano from Italy.
He also sells the washed-rind cheeses made by his partner, David Jowett at King Stone Dairy near Chipping Norton.
I would describe the merchandising as “Modern English” – uncluttered and minimalist- very “Neal’s Yard”
I bought the two cheeses in the featured image last Christmas; Rollright and Evenlode from David who was helping out during the busy period. He told me that they are experimenting with a Beaufort style cheese which should be ready in about 18 months. I can’t wait!
